VIA FERRATA

Ardennen PBNvia Ferrata
In the Ardennes, we created a special combination of a classic via ferrata and a zipline for PBN, built in an old limestone quarry. A location that offers an exceptional experience, while at the same time imposing high demands on both design and execution.
From Rockwell
to zipline
The via ferrata is built according to traditional principles. The route runs along the steep limestone walls of the quarry and makes use of fixed steel cables, rungs, and the existing rock formations. By following the natural terrain as closely as possible, participants remain continuously connected to their surroundings, and the history of the quarry is literally tangible during the climb. The line of the route has been chosen so that the via ferrata feels challenging, yet remains accessible for a broad target group.
Once at the top, the via ferrata transitions seamlessly into a zipline that crosses the quarry in a single long line. From the rock face, participants zip towards a freestanding wooden Cloeziana tower, specially designed and built as the landing point within the quarry. The tower forms the technical endpoint of the zipline, but has been deliberately kept modest so that it blends harmoniously into the landscape.
The zipline is equipped with a Zipstop braking system, allowing participants to come to a controlled and comfortable stop. The system ensures reliable and consistent deceleration, without the need for an instructor.
This project demonstrates how existing landscapes, such as an old limestone quarry, can be transformed into a sustainable and technically well-conceived adventure concept. A powerful combination of via ferrata, zipline, and custom-built structures, fully tailored to the location and to the experience PBN envisioned.
